CONSIDERATIONS ON THE AGING AND HEALTH OF ELDERLY IN BRAZIL

Today has been a new world reality, the increasing elderly population. Although it is known that this would occur in the future because there were few actions taken by the Ministry of Health to prepare to meet this new demand. Thus, it becomes relevant to a study of the aging population and the politics of health care for the elderly. We examined the behavior of the elderly in Brazil and characterize the care programs aimed at this population and highlight the health of the elderly in Brazil, the importance of updating the professionals engaged in research and in stimulating discussion in the scientific and society in general about the issue. It is descriptive of qualitative and quantitative approach, using bibliographical data. Thus, it was found that there was an aging population making it necessary to establish strategies aimed at urgent insertion of the elderly in the social context, and promote the quality of life with aging.
