USE OF POSITIVE PRESSURE IN THE POSTOPERATIVE OF PATIENTS SUBMITTED TO BARIATRIC SURGERY:

A REVIEW

Resumen

The postoperative period of bariatric surgery is usually associated with pulmonary complications due to the reduction of lung volumes and capacities. Several studies described in the literature demonstrate many benefits in the application of positive pressure in several periods of bariatric surgery. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the best moment for the use of positive pressure in the respiratory tract in order to prevent and / or treat pulmonary complications. For the structuring of the work, a qualitative study was carried out at a descriptive level, with a type of design in a bibliographical research through a review of the scientific literature. The inclusion criteria adopted for the search of the work were the following: the studies are scientific with publications between 1980 to 2017; in Portuguese and English. The studies showed that, regardless of the period used, pre, intra or postoperative, positive pressure is beneficial in restoring pulmonary volumes and capacities, however, more studies are needed in the area, providing the professional with a better treatment approach
