Resumen

The aim of this study was to present the factors that influence childhood obesity and discuss the importance of school physical education in the prevention of this pathology, through a bibliographic, qualitative and documentary review and to make an analysis of the work already produced about the context of childhood obesity, and the condition of obese children and its consequences in school daily life. Bibliographies describing childhood obesity will be used in articles from the Ministry of Health and in books. The study seeks to present the problems arising from obesity, pointing out the risk that the population runs and concludes that obesity prevention is the best way. The advancement of technology negatively affects children today, making them less active. Physical exercise, included in daily life, has guarantees in reducing the risk of obesity. The most important place in this process is the school, being an important part in health-related interventions. The responsibility is not only in the area of Physical Education, but requires multidisciplinary monitoring. Teachers have their prominent role, stimulating an active lifestyle and relating body movements with their importance in the health of each student.
