THE ROLE OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL PROFESSIONAL WITH ELDERLY HYPERTENSIVE AND/OR DIABETIC PATIENTS SEEKING PHARMACEUTICAL GUIDANCE IN PHARMACIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CATUJI/MG

Resumen

The use of medications can be decisive in the control and prevention of problems related to chronic diseases, such as Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus. These tend to be related, among other factors, to the aging of the Brazilian population. As far as is known, pharmaceutical care is the component of professional practice to which the pharmacist interacts directly with the patient in order to meet their medication-related needs. In this sense, the article in question, proposes to analyze the role of the pharmaceutical professional with elderly patients diagnosed with Arterial Hypertension and/or Diabetes Mellitus who seek pharmaceutical guidance in pharmacies in the municipality of Catuji/MG. For that, the work proposed to carry out a study from a bibliographic and field research in the pharmacies of that city. Thus, an onsite survey was carried out, through a structured questionnaire, in order to collect qualitative and quantitative information regarding the attendance to the public of hypertensive and diabetic elderly, provided by pharmacists in city pharmacies, going through the performance of the pharmaceutical professional in this context. . As for bibliographic research, it was based on research in books, scientific articles and magazines, as well as electronic material from sites such as SCIELO and LILACS, seeking to excel in the quality and reliability of the researched material. In view of the above, the scientific article on screen was divided into four parts, in addition to the Introduction. In general, the article addressed, above all, the reality of the pharmaceutical professional in the context of the municipality of CatujiMG. In view of the research, the first finding is that the practice of pharmaceutical care is not a reality in all pharmacies in the municipality, and that its implementation requires more qualification, linked to the need for continuing education on the part of the pharmaceutical professionals who work there.
