Resumen

The present work aims, through bibliographic research, to highlight the main qualitative and quantitative factors identified as causing low back pain, describing its possible implications for nursing professionals working in hospital units. It is characterized by pain in the muscles of the lower back and affects millions of people worldwide, being the second leading cause of patient visits to doctors, the leading cause of absenteeism in professionals under 40 and also the highest incidence among female professionals. Conclusion: the prevalence of low back pain in the population in general was evidenced, with an important highlight in the nursing team, especially in the female sex, as they have smaller stature, less muscle and bone mass, greater fat density and more fragile joints in relation to to the male sex. The importance of effective breaks during the exercise of professional activities was emphasized, in order to avoid physical overload, coupled with the regular practice of physical exercises to strengthen your muscles.
