Chronic Kidney Disease has now been considered a public health problem because it affects 10% of the world's population and an estimated 1.1 million people need dialysis. Adherence to treatment by the patient in hemodialysis therapy is not a simple process, and therefore requires care and attention by the health team. The present study is a research carried out in the hemodialysis sector at a Hospital in the Northeast of Minas Gerais. The objective of this study was to trace and relate the importance of the clinical pharmacist to the clinical, demographic and pharmacological profile of the patients as possible factors that interfere with adherence to treatment. This is a quantitative study carried out with the application of a questionnaire, the sample being composed of 26 patients. It was found that 54% of the patients are male, concentrated in the age group above 41 years, with low schooling. A large proportion of the patients interviewed presented two or more comorbidities, and due to polypharmacy or adverse effects they did not follow the recommended time, representing a determinant factor in the non adherence to the treatment. Regarding the data regarding the medication 54.54% of patients do not remember the name of the drugs used or the indication therapeutic. Although they are aware of the severity of their clinical condition and the risk that selfmedication represents 46.5%, they self-medicate. Thus, the pharmacist within this team can assist the patient in the problems related to the medication, promoting greater rationalization in the use and greater effectiveness in the treatment.
