Abstract

Objective: This study aims to survey the main drugs dispensed in the last 12 months in the city of Almenara-MG for the treatment of schizophrenia provided by SUS in CAPS. Methodology: This study presents a diagnostic analysis based on secondary data surveys provided by the Municipal Health Department of Almenara-MG by CAPS, thus being a qualitative and quantitative investigation, together with the resources obtained through the descriptive and exploratory study. Literature analysis was performed to group previous studies. Results: The study was conducted by data provided by the Municipal Secretary of Health about the pharmacotherapy of 20 CAPS-assisted schizophrenic patients in the municipality of Almenara-MG in the last 12 months. We decided to group the results into the following categories: therapeutic class, gender, percentage, dosage and pharmaceutical form. Patients were identified by gender to which they belong. The typical antipsychotics used represent 95%, only 40% make use of at least one type of drug belonging to the atypical class. As adjuvant therapies, drugs of various therapeutic classes are explored. Conclusion: Although the pharmacotherapy of the studied sample was restricted in only 20 random patients, the cases of schizophrenia in the municipality of Almenara are high when compared to the number of inhabitants of the city. The therapeutic relationship is an important care instrument that allows the reintegration and reorganization of the schizophrenic carrier. More comprehensive studies with a dose range, other antipsychotic drugs used in the clinic, and longer treatment time are desirable.
