Abstract

Objective: The objective of this article was to assess the quality of captopril tablets from two different national pharmaceutical laboratories (generic drug and similar drug). Methodology: Analyzes of average weight and Captopril content were carried out in three batches by each manufacturer following the methodology of the Brazilian Pharmacopeia (2010). In the analysis of the average weight of the pills, all batches tested were in the range recommended by the Pharmacopoeia, which does not allow a variation greater than 7.5% in relation to the average weight. Results: For the similar drug, there was a significant difference between batches from the same manufacturer. For the analysis of Captopril content all tested batches were approved, remaining within the range recommended by the Pharmacopoeia, between 90 and 110%. Final considerations: According to the results obtained, it can be concluded that the analyzed drugs meet the pharmacopoeial parameters in relation to the average weight and the captopril content.
