Abstract

VMNI has been a finding within the neonatal intensive care unit in the treatment of DMH in preterm newborns (PTNB), being considered gold standard its application soon after birth by reducing the deleterious effects of VMI. The present work was a literature review, with a search carried out in the databases: SCIELO, VHL, LILACS, PERIODIC ACTS, RESEARCH GATE and BOOKS, published in Spanish, English and Portuguese, from 2007 to 2017. The objective in this study was to analyze the consequences of the use of positive pressure in preterm infants with hyaline membrane disease, comparing the invasive and the noninvasive mode. The studies analyzed showed different results when the use of the techniques, and it is not possible to standardize the use, since the choice of treatment is individualized, and there is a need for further studies, in order to promote knowledge for professionals in the area.
