O TRABALHO DO ENFERMEIRO NO APOIO FAMILIAR NO TRATAMENTO DO PACIENTE ONCOLÓGICO

The implementation of the Unified Health System (SUS) brought challenges to guaranteeing health, with emphasis on the need to change the hegemonic model for a health model based on social participation and daily health services offered based on the doctrinal principles of universality, equity and integrality. In conforming this reality, initiatives emerged that represented advances in public health policies in a broader direction than had previously been recommended and which prioritized the cure of diseases. In the context of treating cancer patients, the role of nurses in family support is of fundamental importance. Facing a cancer diagnosis not only affects the patient, but also their family, who often play a crucial role in care and emotional support. Nurses, with their clinical expertise and sensitivity, play a multifaceted role in this scenario. In view of this, the objectives of this work are to carry out a comprehensive literature review on the role and practices of nurses in family support during the treatment of cancer patients. This work was constructed using the bibliographic review methodology; The survey of scientific production on the proposed topic was carried out through databases available electronically on websites such as: Scientific Library Online (Scielo), Latin American and Caribbean Literature (LILACS) and Virtual Health Library (VHL). It is evident that the role of nurses in family support in the treatment of cancer patients is extremely relevant and impactful. This literature review allowed an in-depth analysis of the interventions performed by nurses, revealing their ability to provide emotional, educational and clinical support to families in this challenging context. It is notable how these professionals play a fundamental role in promoting patients' quality of life and strengthening family support, contributing to adherence to treatment and coping with the disease.
