Abstract

The article to analyze the relationship between diet and the presence of PMS in reproductive-age women. This is a narrative literature review conducted through a search of PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Observational studies (cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort) published from the year 2000 in English and Portuguese were included, investigating the relationship between dietary and lifestyle habits and the manifestation of Premenstrual Syndrome symptoms in reproductive-age women. PMS symptoms are broad and varied, affecting various aspects of women's lives. Nutrition is an essential factor in reducing and managing PMS symptoms. No correlations were identified between the consumption of macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates) and PMS. However, the effectiveness of micronutrients, especially calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and B-complex vitamins, has been demonstrated. Diet plays a crucial role in the management of PMS symptoms; however, scientific evidence is still considered insufficient, necessitating more rigorous studies to better explore the associations between the analyzed variables
