PROPOSTA DE DIRETRIZ PARA MANEJO DA DOR EM PACIENTES DA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA EM SAÚDE NO PAPEL DO ENFERMEIRO

Abstract

In Primary Health Care, there is little or almost no approach to pain management. Pain, whether acute or chronic, is a complex experience that requires a holistic and multidisciplinary understanding. It plays a crucial role in promoting the well-being and quality of life of patients. In the context of PHC, the challenge lies not only in relieving pain but also in identifying its underlying causes and promoting management strategies that consider physical, psychological, and social aspects. This study aims to develop a proposal for guidelines/interventions for pain management in the context of primary health care, focusing on the role of the nurse. The study is a literature review on pain management in primary health care, divided into two methodological stages. In the first phase, a narrative literature review on the topic was conducted. In the second phase, the inclusion criteria adopted were the publication of articles within a 10-year period, in Portuguese and English languages. It was possible to develop approaches, some administrative and practical points that enable the nurse to assess and manage pain appropriately, including the use of assessment scales and a suggestion developed by the author based on the references used and studied. The development of the proposed guideline for pain management in Primary Health Care (PHC) patients, in the role of the nurse, represents a significant step in improving the quality of care offered in health units.
