This study aimed to highlight the importance of the actions of the family health strategy to improve the quality of care for older people with mental illness. age, highlighting the care of the Family Health Strategy in the mental health of the elderly. As with advancing age, the presence of psychic morbidities is more frequent and compromises the quality of life of people, aging poses challenges to the physical and mental health of people, and approximately one third of the elderly population she is affected by mental disorders, despite being of age. group that uses the health system the most. The methodology used in qualitative research, in terms of means, will be a bibliographic review and in terms of purposes, it will be explanatory. In the end, it was considered that a well-developed strategy with the family and the elderly contributes to healthy aging, disease prevention, the recovery of the health of the elderly with mental illness and the rehabilitation of those who may have restricted functional capacity. , in order to guarantee their permanence in the environment in which they live, independently exercising their functions in society.
